Who we are
Purbeck Polyps, specializes in UK aqua cultured coral frags, promoting sustainable aquaculture. Our coral selection is propagated from mother colonies in our home display aquariums, ensuring top quality corals.
We offer small scale Hobbyist aquaculture with a dedicated propagation and grow out system. Run by Jon, selling surplus coral frags from My home aquarium and has expanded to a second grow out system due to demand. I have 20 years experience in reef keeping both in the aquarium trade and as hobbyist.
I've had a life long passion for the Aquarium hobby, my father Ran a local fish shop & trout farm in My early childhood - I got my first aquarium at age 6 ( white cloud mountain minnows) and grew up with Dad's Ornament pond fish business in the garden. 4 polytunnels full of goldfish and koi and a garage full of tropical tank racks.
I discovered marines at age 12, and was completely hooked - at 15 he got a job at a LFS and gravitated in to the marine section. after 6 years in the trade I Moved on to other things career wise - but 100's of tanks later I never stopped Reef keeping
After several years selling Frags locally and online coral sales via eBay to cover the running costs of my display tank and hobby, policy changes meant I needed another outlet for my corals to continue to provide quality corals. Maybe one day I can grow to make Reefing my Full time job again!
